Insurance Claim Help Ireland
A flood can put you out of your home for weeks and damage floors, walls and belongings at ground level. We record the damage, check what your policy covers and handle the flood claim with your insurer while you deal with everything else.
Call 01 870 9210Notify your insurer promptly, and contact us at the same time
Flood damage is one of the most stressful and traumatic types of damage. You will often need immediate alternative accommodation and have to leave your property and all your possessions behind.
You will be unable to begin assessing the damage and start the drying process until the flood waters subside.
Flood damage claims can be tricky to handle by yourself. Once everyone is safe, notify your insurer as soon as possible. You can contact Insurance Claim Solutions alongside that; once you appoint us, we manage the claim with your insurer.
The sooner we can visit and assess the damage, the sooner drying and repairs can be planned and agreed with your insurer.
Early on, we check exactly what your policy covers, including food and other perishables if your policy includes them.
On a flood claim, the secondary damage matters as much as what the water touched first. We also help you meet the conditions in your policy, such as notifying the insurer promptly and recording damaged items before they are thrown out, while following public-health advice on anything contaminated by floodwater.

What happens next and how we can help
If you suffered from flood damage, you probably have a lot of questions:
What do I do first?
What am I covered for?
Will the flooding cause rot to my building?
Does it need to be treated?
Do I need specialist cleaning contractors?
Where do I find the contractors that specialise in flood damage restoration?
How long will it take to dry?
Does the area require sanitisation?
We go through each of these questions with you at our first visit. Before permanent repairs start, the damage needs to be recorded and agreed with your insurer, and Insurance Claim Solutions can help with each step of that.
We assess the damage, prepare the claim, deal with your insurer and negotiate the settlement on your behalf. You can read what previous clients say in our testimonials.

Loss adjuster or loss assessor?
When you make a flood damage claim, your insurer sends a loss adjuster. They are appointed and paid by the insurance company, and they assess the claim on its behalf. A loss assessor does the same job from your side of the table: we are appointed by you, and we work for you.

Why the visible damage is only the beginning of your flood damage claim
Floodwater is rarely clean. It can carry silt, sewage and fuel, so plaster, flooring, insulation and kitchen units that look as if they could dry out often have to be stripped out and replaced. Much of the damage is out of sight, under floors and inside walls, and can take weeks to show.
Standing water can also affect foundations, floors and electrics, and the damp it leaves behind leads to mould, rot in timber and corrosion of metal fittings. We look for these problems early so they are recorded as part of the flood claim, not found after it has closed.

The categories of flood damage we record
Not every home insurance policy covers every kind of flooding. Some policies exclude flood altogether, and others treat water from rivers, the sea, drains and burst pipes in different ways. We read your policy wording against the cause of the flood before the claim goes in.
We record each type of flood damage separately, including the ones that are easy to overlook:
Direct Water Damage: This includes immediate damage caused by flood water entering your property, affecting floors, walls, ceilings, and personal belongings. We record the rooms, surfaces and items the water reached.
Structural Damage: Flood water can compromise the structural integrity of your building, affecting foundations, load-bearing walls, and support systems. This type of damage requires expert assessment to identify both immediate and potential long-term issues.
Electrical System Damage: Water and electricity don't mix. After a flood, sockets, wiring and appliances at low level should be tested by a qualified electrician before they are used again, and we record the findings as part of the claim.
